My home is my business… So it was impossible for me to move… And I really had no place to go. The mortgage company had ruined my credit when they offered the modification, so I couldn’t even get an apartment! I couldn’t have my business in an apartment, anyway. I would have also lost custody of my daughter bc I would have had to move to the city and her father lives in a nice school district… It would have been an expensive legal battle for me.

@alonealotta I feel for these people. I hope J’s video here have more people making videos on how they are hurting, how they survived, and how they are making it. We need true stories like this because from the media we see everything from a distance.

@HedgeLiving I live in Miami and 1 – 5 homes where foreclosed on in my neighborhood alone! Now husbands are going to other states for work just to hold onto what they have for there young kids and wives some are renting spare rooms even garages are made into little living spaces..we are hanging on but I became disabled around the bust of the housing market it’s so hard around here the stress is driving people mad one false move and they snap! some are even stealing copper from a/c units 4 cash

I have taken in my cousin because they lost their home down in Florida. When she first came she was shocky the way you speak of. She really just started gardening, almost frantically. She would get out in the garden as the sun came up and would still be there as the sun went down. She has put up more food than we could eat in 10 years. She is finally beginning to calm down but she was very much in true survival mode and all we could do hold her until she felt safe again.

I was so angry I swore they weren’t getting ANYTHING that had a memory for me attached to it. From the antique glass doorknobs to the lightswitch covers and even to our mailbox that was affixed to the outside of the house. I feel so badly for all of that now, but at the time was too angry and hurt to care. But it was anger and hurt tha twas residual too from other things. So many going through so many hard times right now, we all need one another more than ever before!

What you said about wrecking your foreclosed home really hit home for me. I was 21 when my mom and I lost our house that I grew up in, that was 10 years ago now…and man did that hurt. It was one of the most painful experiences of my life, but I learned from it. I learned a lot…I just drove by my old house when I was in town visiting, and I still miss that place. We had lost spirits in that house and I miss them…They were friendly. But I remember when we left we were angry….*cont*
