How can I find of if my house is in foreclosure?

How can I find out for free if my house is in foreclosure? I have been going nuts over this. I live with my Mother in-law and I asked her but she told me I should but out! I have two small kids, I need to know if I need to look for a place to stay. PLEASE HELP.

The house is my mother in-law’s and her sister’s.

only thing you can do is snoop around for the notice but if she is telling you to butt out than my guess would be it is being foreclosed on
  2. John says:
When a house goes into foreclosure usually a notice is placed on the door. The court house or county has a place where it would be part of the public record. You might have to go there to get the information
  3. Expert Realtor says:
    Foreclosures are public information.

All you have to do is call the courthouse and ask them. An attorney has to file an action on the title for it to be in legal foreclosure.

PS: Does this house belong to you????
