How long does a person need to be a resident of WI, before they file for bankruptcy?

My friend needs to file bankruptcy, and needs to know how long he needs to be a resident of Wisconsin, before he can file. Does anyone have the answer, I have looked, all over the web, who can help?

    He can file immediately. The issue is whether he is eligible for Wisconsin’s exemptions (that is, Wisconsin definition of stuff he gets to keep). Section 522b3 of the bankruptcy code says how long you got to be in a state before you’re allowed to claim that state’s exemptions.
