I have just seen a bankruptcy attorney. For ch. 7 he quoted me at $1950.00. Is that a lot? Long Isl. NY?

I plan on getting second and third opinions, but has anyone been through this and how much did it cost?

    I filed for bankruptcy back in 2001 and I paid $1500.00 i live in Illinois I am not sure if it makes a difference or not. I think $1950.00 is a little too much. Good you are thinking of getting a second opinion. GOOD LUCK!!!

    That is probably within a range that is not unusual for that area of the country. A lot of things are more expensive in your area of the country than they are in other areas of the country. Attorney fees are no different. In areas where the cost of living is high, attorneys tend to charge more than they do in areas where the cost of living is lower, in part because their own business expenses are higher (cost of office space, utilities, support staff salaries, etc.).
